Mahathma Gandhi

 

  Mahathma Gandhi is one of the greatest men of the century who has been admired by the whole world.He was born on October 2,1869.Porbandar in Gujarat India.Hewas known as the father of the nation.When Mahathma Gandi was seven years old he went to school and he was an average student. After he completed his studies in college,his father advised him to go to England ,for higher studies.He went there and then went to South Africa.When he was there he found that his countrymen were suffering under the British laws.He returned to India and started this non violent movement against the British rulers.He was sent to jail many times. Many people from parts of the world followed him.After a long struggle the British Government finally granted independence to India in August , 1947.He was well known for his good qualities of honestly ,kindness and devotion to religion.He was a man who had much sympathy for the poor and needy.He showed the world the way to achieve one's goal in peace . He died in 1948, and this was a very sad day for the people of india.He was remembered as a symbol of modern India.
